Boy injured by car near school in Alexandria, Minnesota

ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- A 12-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle near a middle school on Monday.

The accident happened at about 3 p.m. on McKay Avenue in front of  Discovery Middle School.

Police said it appears that the boy was running across the road and came out from behind a school bus. He ran into the northbound lane and was struck by a 2002 GMC Envoy driven by Christine Hastings of Alexandria.

The boy suffered minor injuries and was transported by North Ambulance to Douglas County Hospital.

The school bus was driving by at the time of the crash and was not involved in the crash itself, according to police.
