HIGHER EDUCATION NOTES: UND committee for new med school
UND President Robert Kelley has named the committee members in charge a location decision and the building of a new facility for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The 378,000-square-foot building, which received total funding of $122.45 million, will hold the school's educational, service, and research programs under one roof for the first time.
The site recommendation committee includes Dean Joshua Wynne of the medical school and Alice Brekke, UND vice president for finance and operations. The final decision for the location will be left to Kelley.
Once the site is selected, the building committee will help guide the project. Randy Eken, medical school associate dean for administration and finance, is chairman of the building committee, which also includes Steven Light, associate vice president for academic affairs.
• Holly Brown Borg, a Chester Fritz distinguished professor of pharmacology, physiology and therapeutics at UND's School of Medicine and Health Sciences, was recently honored with the 2013 Denham Harman Lifetime Achievement in Research Award in Baltimore.
