Marilyn Hagerty: Hockey returns to The Ralph this weekend

The weekend arrives with hockey at UND and the football team in California for a Saturday game at UC Davis.

Oh, and the UND volleyball team never seems to rest. There is another game with Eastern Washington going on at 11 a.m. at the Betty on Saturday. And at The Ralph at 7:07 p.m. Saturday, the Manitoba Moose will meet up with the North Dakota Hawks.

Bubba's brother, Lowell Schweigert, will emcee the meeting of fans today. That begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Alerus Center.

Love conquers all. And the wedding of Candice Hanson and Michael "Mickey" Moore is set for Saturday. Outdoors. At the Myra Museum Gazebo.

There are two more weddings scheduled there in October. All of which shows there are hardy souls around Grand Forks.

There have been 15 weddings so far this year in city parks—University, Sertoma, Lincoln and Riverside. And 17 couples have said, "I do" and "I will" along the banks of the English Coulee at the University of North Dakota. One of those weddings was inside the Hopper Danley Center.

Last year, 395 couples applied for wedding licenses at the Grand Forks County Courthouse. As September was drawing you a close, 330 couples had been in for a license.
