Awesome Authors is a creative writing summer school class offered by the Grand Forks Public School District. Laura Knox teaches the class, for students in kindergarten through second grade. Class members participate in writing and art projects, field trips and a class blog, which can be found at: or by searching Laura Knox Awesome Authors.

Each summer, the Awesome Authors tour the offices of the Grand Forks Herald. They visit with many Herald staff members to learn about their jobs. This year’s Awesome Authors, in cooperation with Grand Forks Herald Newspapers in Education, have written reviews of some new and/or popular children’s books from their school library and the Grand Forks Public Library.

Accent will be highlighting these book reviews and illustrations over the next eight weeks. Be sure to check Accent on Books each Sunday for more book reviews and illustrations from our very own area Awesome Authors.
