REVIEW: Almay Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover
I’ve been on the hunt for a product that rids my lids of the day, so I tried Almay’s Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover for $4.97 at Walmart. It’s packaged in a 4-ounce cylinder-like bottle that’s pretty, aka aesthetically pleasing. (And it’s a nice shade of lilac, which didn’t hurt.)
I followed the directions, and shook the bottle well. I applied a small amount to a cotton ball and went at it. After several swipes, my eye makeup was definitely coming off but — after looking in the mirror — not as much as I’d hoped. I seemed to smudge my makeup a bit more into my skin.
I squeezed more product onto a cotton ball and tried again, pressing a bit harder and really rubbing it in.
While this product is oil-free, it has a slight alcohol smell, which made me self-conscious I paving the way for crow’s feet.
After several swipes and cotton balls, I was semi-pleased with the result, but after showering, I saw that Almay’s Oil-Free remover didn’t do the trick. (Think baby raccoon eyes.)
My standards may be a bit high, but I was hoping for a product that left no signs of makeup on my face. Period.
After several tries in one week, I think I’ll pass on this one.
