PRODUCT REVIEW: e.l.f. Studio Eye Primer and Liner Sealer
I have a confession to make, y’all — I think makeup is kind of a hassle.
It seems like I can never get it to stay in place very long, so I don’t really wear much on a regular basis.
On the rare occasion when I do put in the extra effort, I like to play up my eyes. But it seems like a lot of work for something that’s just going to fade away as the day goes on.
Enter e.l.f. Studio Eye Primer and Liner Sealer.
I’m always a sucker for multipurpose items, so this $3 dual-purpose tool was a no-brainer when I ran across it at Walmart.
Sadly, the primer only added a little to the life of my eye shadow, but it allowed me to make the pigment a little stronger, which I like.
As I applied my eye shadow, the primer kept it from spreading easily over my eyelid, so it took more shadow and more blending to get the desired result.
The primer has a yellow/orange undertone that doesn’t match my peaches and cream complexion, but with pink and brown eye shadow over it, that didn’t matter.
Moral of the story: I like the way my eye shadow looks more with the primer, but it takes a little more effort. So, for someone who likes to do a more dramatic eye, it’s a good, inexpensive option.
Now, let’s talk about the Liner Sealer. The name is a little deceiving because it actually just turns any eye shadow into liquid eyeliner.
The pointed brush is perfect for applying, even tight-lining, but it doesn’t hold very much eye shadow, so it’s a slow process. It also leaves some of the liquid in the eye shadow, so don’t try it with your favorite, discontinued shade. Finally, the brush is not easy to clean, so I decided to designate a neutral shade and not switch colors.
Ultimately, there are a lot of limitations on what this product can do, but for $3.20, it’s not a bad buy.
