Flood fighters rushed to shore up an emergency levee in Grafton Tuesday after the National Weather Service issued a flood warning and raised the probable Park River crest to 16.5 feet, near the record of 16.52 feet, which has stood since 1950.

Pilot Liz Lillard was in Williston on Monday as she watched a live feed of a massive tornado pass over her children’s day care in Moore, Okla. Lillard’s son and daughter, ages 2½ and 7 months, were safe in a storm shelter at their day care, but phone lines were down, so Lillard didn’t know for two hours.

PREP TRACK: Park River senior looking to reclaim discus title at Class B state meet

Sixth place at a state tournament — there’s no shame in that. For Garrett Pic, however, being No. 6 has been a big motivator. That’s because it’s a big drop from No. 1. The Park River Area thrower placed sixth in the discus at last season’s ND Class B state high school track meet. That came a year after he won the state discus title as a sophomore.
