The snowplows did not rest Sunday in Grand Forks County. Both state Department of Transportation trucks with front-mounted plows and the county’s motor-graders with center-hung blades were busy trying to keep the drifting light snow off gravel and blacktop roads.

You didn't miss Christmas, or New Year's Eve, for that matter. With the bitter wind chills and deep-freeze temperatures, it just seems like January outside - or, at least, the weather feels as though the holidays are behind us. For certain, we're not getting above zero again today.
Eastern ND, western Minnesota remain under a blizzard watch Reconsider any travel plans this weekend to or across western and central North Dakota, the National Weather Service advises. It has declared a blizzard warning for that region, which is expected to get four to eight inches of snow, 30- to 40-mph winds, 45-mph gusts and ultimately sub-zero temperatures and even more frigid wind chills. And all of that nasty is expected to reach the Red River region by later Saturday or very early Sunday, so travel likely will be miserable here, too.
