As soon as last year’s Rockin’ the Bakken motorcycle fun run ended, people asked organizer Roger Stout when he’d have the next one planned. That’s when Stout knew the growing oil boom town had enough motorcycle enthusiasts to support a bigger event. He’s planning the first Williston motorcycle rally for June 22.
The Williston Regional Water Treatment Plant is operating at a reduced capacity due to the spring rise in the Yellowstone River and heavy rainfall that has increased sediment levels in the Missouri River to historic levels, Mayor Ward Koeser said. The area’s population growth and industrial demand for water also stress the plant, officials said.
A 7-year-old boy was struck by a car Wednesday just as school concluded for the day. Police, EMTs and witnesses surrounded the victim, who was placed on a body board before being loaded onto a stretcher in the ambulance.
Property values continue to rise in the North Dakota oil patch hub of Williston. The increases follow over-the-year rises in 2012 of about 20 percent for residential property and 60 percent to 80 percent for commercial property.
