Three years after state and federal officials first released thousands of tiny stingless wasps on an island in the Mississippi River to combat the destructive emerald ash borer, researchers are using a new technique to measure the effectiveness of the wasps.
The emerald ash borer was reunited Wednesday with an old nemesis from the homeland as part of Minnesota's attempts to impede the tree killer. The cost to cut down or treat infected trees in the Twin Cities was at least $1.5 billion from 2009 to 2015.
