The Blue Rider, a Minot staple and exhibit for local artists, finally closed up shop Friday as the increased water flow through Minot became too much. Employees and owners worked all morning to clear out the bar, the oldest wood-frame structure in Minot.
Pekin, N.D., will embrace its reputation as a center for the arts on the prairie with the annual Pekin Days Art Show, an event beginning Wednesday with a reception featuring noted North Dakota artist Walter Piehl Jr. of Minot.
“Doug and Walter’s Dog and Pony Show,” a fantastic journey through the art of sculptor Doug Pliger and painter Walter Piehl, will open Thursday at Third Street Gallery on Kittson in Grand Forks and run through May 22.
