Fargo to ban texting for police employees 
A policy change expected in the next 30 days will prohibit all Fargo police employees from texting while driving department vehicles and will limit cell phone use to “necessary and reasonable” calls, Chief Keith Ternes said.

GF City Council's Safety Committee approves ban on texting while driving 
A proposed law banning texting and driving in Grand Forks will be going before the City Council next Monday.The new ordinance received approval from the council’s Safety Committee Tuesday, but without any penalty attached. That would be a decision for the council.

A proposed ban on sending or reading text messages while driving came up a loser in the North Dakota House, despite arguments that the practice is as dangerous as drunken driving. North Dakota law already has penalties for careless or reckless driving that can be applied to someone who is typing out a text message while driving, said Rep. Robin Weisz, R-Hurdsfield.
