Minot officials are looking at ways to spruce up areas that were flooded two years ago. More than 4,000 homes, businesses and other structures were affected when the Souris River spilled its banks in June 2011. Many flood-damaged homes remain boarded up.
Minot residents who restored their homes following historic Souris River flooding in 2011 might be eligible for money if the federal government approves the city's plan for spending its second allocation of Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery dollars.
Health officials in the Minot area are looking into how many damaged houses have been abandoned following the historic Souris River flooding last summer. Those that have been deserted stand to be razed for health and safety reasons.
