Work was expected to finish today on the rebuilding of East Grand Forks' Sherlock Forest Playground. After the playground was destroyed in a fire on May 27, 2011, the community vowed to rebuild. The rebuilding project ran Sept. 18 - 27. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was scheduled to be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the playground.
Four months after losing 75 percent of its structures to a fire, the Sherlock Forest Park playground will once again be whole. Rebuilding efforts for the park, located in East Grand Forks, are set to begin Sept. 18.
The project's needs include 25 skilled carpenters on Sept. 18 and tools for that work, plus food preparation and service and about 300 daily volunteers during a seven-day project period in latter September.

Rebuilding the Sherlock Forest playground, necessary because of a May fire that destroyed three-fourths of the playground, is off to a raucous start with Monday evening’s unveiling of the new design.
The city of East Grand Forks is seeking volunteers to help rebuild Sherlock Forest playground, three quarters of which burned down in May. The work is tentatively scheduled for 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 19-25. The city is also seeking some donations.

A fundraiser was held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, to raise money to rebuild East Grand Forks' Sherlock Park playground. The playground was destroyed by a fire in May 2011. The event was held in front of the Boardwalk restaurant in East Grand Forks.
