Two weeks after the federal government charged him with terrorism for an alleged attack on a University of Iowa animal research lab, Scott DeMuth was back home in Minneapolis making plans to return to his sociology classes, visit his grandparents and get back to a regular routine.
A federal magistrate has ordered a Minnesota activist arrested in the 2004 animal rights vandalism at the University of Iowa to remain in jail so prosecutors can appeal an order to release him pending trial. U.S. Magistrate Judge Ross Walters said in an order issued Wednesday that Scott DeMuth must remain in the Muscatine County Jail until at least 3 p.m. Monday.
A man is dead and another is arrested after a shooting at a Burnsville apartment. Sgt. Jeff Witte said police were called at 2:48 a.m. Saturday and found a young man with a single gunshot wound.
