It’s like driving a lawn mower, Josh Saunders said. “But, you’re just doing it on ice, so it’s more slippery.” Saunders is the ice maintenance supervisor at Ralph Engelstad Arena, which is a fancy way of saying he’s the guy that handles driving the Zamboni.
Tim Hortons coffee and hot chocolate is coming to Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks this weekend, the arena announced Thursday. The coffee kiosk will be open in the southwest corner of the building during the UND men’s hockey game against St. Cloud State University on Friday and Saturday.
The ice is in at Ralph Engelstad Arena and the center-ice logo has changed. Instead of the "North Dakota Hockey" script that the rink went with last season, it will use the interlocking N.D. logo, which was used in the old Ralph Engelstad Arena.
UND football coach Chris Mussman peered out the entryway of Memorial Stadium to take in the moment which will pave the way for the UND Athletics High Performance Center. With the old Ralph Engelstad Arena beginning to be torn down, Monday morning marked an end to one era and the start of another.
Berger Enterprises, the company responsible for demolition of the old Ralph, is selling seats from the arena for $20 per seat (plus tax) with cash or check or $21 per seat (plus tax) with a credit card.
