Hundreds of PRACS Institute employees here were laid off Wednesday when the company unexpectedly announced it was shutting down. Employees said they were notified the company would shut down Wednesday afternoon.
PRACS Institute has risen from the ashes of a successor firm’s bankruptcy and returned as the name for a new drug-testing firm that once again will be headquartered here. James Carlson, a PRACS co-founder who sold the company in 2006, has been named chief executive of the new company.
James Carlson, co-founder of Pracs Institute in Fargo, said he's "extremely serious" about applying for president of North Dakota State University.
