Even as the Red River slowly lowers, sewers backed up in some homes near the Valley Golf Course on the northwest end of East Grand Forks on Tuesday night as overland flooding from farm fields overwhelmed the city’s storm water drainage.

Moorhead overhauls flood preparations

40-foot Red crest at Fargo expected; mayor says 1.5M sandbags needed 
The Red River is expected to crest in Fargo next Saturday at a level of around 40 feet, and city officials are asking for volunteers to help with sandbagging. “It’s going to be a massive effort to protect the city to 40 feet,” Mayor Dennis Walaker said.
