The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public input on its proposed operating plan for the Tolna Coulee Advance Measures control structure being built in Nelson County, N.D. The document will be used by the project’s non-federal sponsor, the North Dakota State Water Commission, to operate the structure.

The average age of Nelson County farmers is 61.4, according to the U.S. Department’s 2007 Census of Agriculture, which was released in early 2009.
That’s the highest average age for farmers in any county in the region. It’s also a hefty increase from Nelson County farmers’ average age of 59 in 2002.
I don’t think we want to move the buildings unless we really have to Nelson County will seek National Register of Historic Places status for the 87-year-old Stump Lake Pavilion even as it looks at the possibility of moving the building to higher ground to protect it from the rising lake.
