A string of students from NCTC toured their new “classroom” Friday morning. “I don’t follow basketball, but I’ll start rooting for the Pistons now,” said one of the students as he strolled through. That’s because that new “classroom” was actually a DC-9 airplane donated to the Northland Community & Technical College Foundation by the Detroit Pistons NBA basketball team.

NCTC president speaks of ‘scary times,’ ‘vibrant’ future Northland Community and Technical College has faced a financial “squeeze” over the past five years as state funding has shrunk, President Anne Temte said Wednesday. But despite the current “scary times” for the college, including an ongoing Minnesota state budget crisis and a sluggish national and local economy, she said NCTC has handled its recent challenges and now is ready to look forward to a “vibrant, innovative future.”
Pioneers clicking as state championship approaches Due in part to the last-minute assembly, the Pioneers started the year 0-2 while getting outscored 77-18. Since, Northland has gone 7-1 heading into Sunday’s Minnesota College Athletic Conference championship game against Rochester Community and Technical College.
It's called the "Graduate Minnesota" campaign and it features 30-second radio spots and letters to more than 20,000 people who recently attended a state college or university, but didn't earn a degree.
