Under the law, motorists traveling on a road with two or more lanes must keep over one full lane away from stopped emergency vehicles that have flashing lights activated. Drivers must reduce speed if they are unable to safely move over a lane.
Motorists in central and south central North Dakota should expect short delays of up to 20 minutes over the coming weeks due to crews repairing downed power lines. The North Dakota Highway Patrol will be directing traffic on the affected roadways. Motorists are asked to use caution when coming upon these work sites.
Starting Saturday, the North Dakota law that requires motorists to slow down and move over for ambulances and law enforcement vehicles with their emergency lights on also will apply to state Department of Transportation vehicles.
