Minneapolis Mayor R. T. Rybak says he's found his next job and will lead an educational nonprofit organization when he leaves office in January. Rybak has been mayor for 12 years. His successor will be chosen Tuesday.
A bridge will be dedicated Tuesday night to former Minneapolis Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton. The Minneapolis bridge, which carries Third Avenue South over Interstate 94, will be dedicated as the "Sharon Sayles Belton Bridge."
City officials are trying to determine what caused part of an outer wall to collapse at a building in the warehouse district of downtown Minneapolis.
The building housed a heating company. A stretch of the outer brick wall toward the back collapsed Thursday morning.
A former canon lawyer with the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis says the final straw in her quitting was when officials refused to take action when she discovered pornography on CDs in chancery files on a priest who was up for promotion.
There were tears and hugs as the girls, ages 11 to 13, were reunited with their families Tuesday night. The girls had hatched a plan to run away, not realizing that their disappearance would attract such attention.
