Military construction legislation passed Wednesday by the U.S. House includes more than $30 million for projects in North Dakota.
Rep. Earl Pomeroy, D-N.D., said in a Thursday news release that the funding for the 2011 fiscal year will “strengthen military bases” in the state. The legislation also will invest in health care and benefits programs for the nation’s veterans.
On just a single day this year on the Red Lake reservation in northern Minnesota, police and investigators received emergency calls about a suicide, a murder, three stabbings, two shootings and multiple incidents of domestic violence.
