How to comment on letters

In an Internet age where anonymous comments abound, letters to the editor stand out: Each one carries the writer’s real name. The Herald is proud of that fact and wants to encourage writers to sign their names to their work. To that end, we don’t enable online comments on letters (although we welcome comments on editorials, columns and most other Herald features).

If you’d like to comment on a letter, we invite you to do so by sending us a letter-to-the-editor of your own, complete with your name, town of residence and a daytime phone number (for verification purposes only). If space and other considerations allow, we’ll print that letter on the Herald’s editorial page and here on the newspaper’s website.
