St. Paul hotel desk clerk charged with recording newlyweds 
A complaint filed Friday in Ramsey County District Court charges 28-year-old Jermiah Marg, of Burnsville, with interfering with privacy. The couple called police after they found a recorder under the door of their room at the 340 Hotel in downtown St. Paul last December.

Fire at Minnesota hotel causes $100,000 in damage 
A fire at a Days Inn Hotel in downtown Rochester has forced a two-hour evacuation and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage. No injuries were reported. A Post-Bulletin of Rochester report says the fire today about 6:15 a.m. was sparked by an overheated fryer in the hotel's restaurant.

Oil Patch experiences boom in hotel construction 
Hotel construction is up in North Dakota's booming Oil Patch but rooms are still tough to book in some areas. Williston Convention and Visitors Bureau director Amy Krueger says the number of hotel rooms in the city has grown by more than 300 rooms to 934 in the past two years. But she says it's still not enough.

Roseau hotels go smoke-free 
Hotel guests staying in Roseau, Minn., will no longer be able to light a cigarette in their hotel room. As of Jan. 1, all hotels in the city went smoke-free, according to the Roseau Convention and Visitors Bureau.
