Heavy rains cause flooding in northern RRV 
From 4 to 7 inches of rain across the northern end of the Red River Valley, with winds up to 65 mph late Saturday and early Sunday are causing significant flooding. Basements are taking in water and sewers are backing up and flash flooding is expected.

FDIC closes Hallock, Minn., bank 
United Valley Bank of Cavalier, N.D., has assumed all deposits of a Minnesota-based bank, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Friday in a press release.
The federal government on Friday closed Marshall Bank, National Association, which is based in Hallock.

MPCA fines Hallock oil company 
Johnson Oil of Hallock, Minn., has agreed to a pay a $24,500 civil penalty and completed actions requested by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to settle alleged violations of state storage tank regulations, the MPCA said in a statement Thursday.

Given a little help from a clear sky, the temperature at Grand Forks International Airport this morning dipped to 16 below, and it hasn't been above zero since late Monday afternoon. It was 13 below at the airport shortly before 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service office in Grand Forks. And at 11:53 a.m., the gauge at the airport still read 4 below zero.

That’s what the local newspaper says.
An editorial in last week’s edition of the Walsh County Record suggests that the city of Grafton should buy the Alchem ethanol plant, a production facility that has been closed since October but is expected to reopen in April or May.
