Mitt Romney's Mormon faith has shaped his life, but he barely mentioned it as he spoke to graduates at an evangelical Christian university Saturday. And he barely touched on hot-button social issues like abortion and gay marriage, instead offering a broad-based defense of values like family and hard work.
The University of North Dakota medical school is holding its spring commencement ceremony. The school says doctor of medicine degrees will be conferred on 61 people during the Sunday afternoon ceremony at the Chester Fritz Auditorium on the Grand Forks campus.
Tyler Beckman, Joe Moore and Solomon Kassaye are entering into some rare air — without ever leaving the ground. They’ll graduate tonight from Northland Community and Technical College, becoming the country’s first unmanned aircraft system maintenance technicians certified by the National Center for Aerospace and Transportation Technologies, an industry group.
Wayne and Carolyn Schenck of Crookston, MN, proudly announce the graduation of their daughter, Natalie Rebecca Royal, from UND with a Master's of Science in nursing. That amounts to about 8 percent of all seniors tested. The students are allowed to retake the tests after waiting six weeks. A possible state government shutdown July 1 could complicate that time schedule.
Graduation season is almost upon us, which means breaking out those buttermints and clearing a spot on the table for gifts.

They weren’t in class, but waiting to hear their name called to go up on stage and receive their high school diplomas.
With five high school graduations this week in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, 655 seniors will be walking across the stage and claiming their diplomas. Here’s a list of remaining graduation ceremonies. Community High Schools graduation was held Thursday night, while East Grand Forks Senior High held its ceremony Friday night.
