Seniors dominated the lineup for the Fosston boys basketball team that won the Section 8A title last season. The roster had nine seniors, including three starters and the team’s top three reserves. But coach Ben Hemberger didn’t anticipate a major drop off this season.
After beating Warren-Alvarado-Oslo on Friday in the Section 8A title game, Fosston will make its first appearance in Minnesota's state boys basketball tournament since 1921 on Thursday, when it meets Chisholm in the state quarterfinals in Williams Arena.

No boys basketball game has been played between Fosston and Warren-Alvarado-Oslo in Todd Mortimer’s 13 seasons as W-A-O’s basketball coach. Yet it figures to be a rivalry renewed when those teams meet with the Minnesota Section 8A title on the line.
