The food drive began Monday and will run through Feb. 24. Nonperishable food items can be dropped off in Grand Forks at the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union Hall, 100 N. Third St. Suite 50, or the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 1426 Union Hall, 1714 N. Washington St.
Effort aims to collect enough food and cash for 500,00 meals
Andrew Nelson of Moorhead's Park Christian School was among dozens of high school volunteers working Tuesday at Hornbacher’s stores in Fargo-Moorhead to convince shoppers to buy $10 bags of food to help fill the arena floor of the Fargodome with food for the hungry.
The 19th annual letter carriers food drive is May 14. Area residents will receive grocery bags during the week, donated by Super One Foods, in which they can place their donations. Nonperishable foods and toiletries will be accepted.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Department said an inmate was taken to the hospital after a suicide attempt at the county jail.
