Conservation officers for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources did a follow-up work detail Wednesday on Lake of the Woods and found fewer violations than Jan. 20-23, when 234 walleyes and saugers were seized for various violations.By Brad Dokken , February 02, 2012
WEEKLY DNR ENFORCEMENT REPORT: Snowmobile activity increases, Injured wolf put down etc.
CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls) responded to a call of an injured gray wolf on a snowmobile trail in the New Maine WMA west of Middle River. Upon arrival an emaciated gray wolf barely able to stand was found. The wolf had to be put down. A leg wound from what appeared to be a bullet limited the wolf’s ability to catch food and accounted for the wolf’s low body weight.February 01, 2012

Devils Lake ice fishing tournament expected to draw large crowds from region, Canada 
The event the last Saturday of January typically draws people from area states and Canada. Fire Chief Jim Moe says 15,000 tickets were sold this year. He expects anywhere from 3,000 to 5,000 people to actually fish.

WEEKLY DNR ENFORCEMENT REPORT: Numerous overlimits on Lake of the Woods, Snowmobile activity picks up in some places etc. 
CO Jeff Birchem (Baudette) organized a work detail on Lake of the Woods with conservation officers from around the state. Fishing success was good for most anglers. Safe travel continues to improve on the lake as colder weather continued. Enforcement action was taken on numerous over limits, illegal length fish, extra lines unattended lines and other angling violations.
