Second Dunn County petition seeking investigation of Gov. Dalrymple dismissed 
A judge has again dismissed a Dunn County petition seeking a grand jury investigation of Gov. Jack Dalrymple on allegations of bribery related to oil industry campaign contributions.

North Dakota House approves bill to raise bar for grand jury investigations 
A bill approved 61-33 Wednesday by the House updates North Dakota’s law regarding grand juries and increases the number of petition signatures required for citizen-initiated grand jury investigations. The floor testimony did not reference the petition filed in Dunn County that seeks a grand jury investigation of Gov. Jack Dalrymple related to campaign contributions he received from oil companies.

About the petition law 
North Dakota law spells outs how county residents can use a petition to convene a grand jury. The petition must be signed by eligible voters, with at least as many signatures as 10 percent of the total number of votes cast for governor in the most recent general election. Dunn County had 1,670 voters in 2008, meaning 167 signatures were required.

Proposed oil waste landfill near Dodge, N.D., opposed 
A group of residents in Dunn County is opposing a Bismarck company's plan to build an oil field waste landfill near Dodge. Waste Solutions LLP is seeking permission to store solid oil field waste in an open, lined pit on about 120 acres of land two miles south of Dodge, a town of fewer than 100 people.

Dunn County lifts moratorium on crew camps 
Dunn County will lift its crew camp moratorium June 1. The Board of County Commissioners decided Wednesday that it will also ask the planning and zoning committee to set parameters on the number of beds and locations if different from what is stated in the zoning ordinance.
The committee will return with its recommendations at the June 6 county commissioners meeting.

The Highway Patrol says 45-year-old Michael Kadrmas died after the sport utility vehicle he was driving spun out of control on a gravel road northeast of Dickinson about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

600-worker 'man camp' opening north of Dickinson 
Officials are cutting the ribbon this afternoon on another large so-called man camp in the western North Dakota oil patch, this one a 600-worker housing facility in Dunn County. CEO Brian Lash of Target Logistics says his company has opened eight compounds with more than 3,700 beds in the Bakken formation region since 2010, and several more are planned.

Cause of man's death at Dunn County oil well could take months to determine 
A co-worker found the body of 21-year-old Dustin Bergsing of Edgar, Mont., on Saturday at a remote oil well in Dunn County. An autopsy was done but Dr. William Massello says he didn't reach any immediate conclusions.

Rural Dickinson state Sen. George Nodland says one term in the North Dakota Legislature is enough. The 66-year-old Nodland says he won't run for re-election next year. He represents District 36 in southwestern North Dakota. The region includes most of Stark County, part of Dunn County and western Morton County.

21-year-old former N.D. wrestling star, adrenaline junkie's life cut short 
Corde Thomas Fredericks, 21, a former Killdeer High School wrestling star, could light up the room with a smile. But that smile is gone now as he died suddenly Thursday and the cause is unclear, family members said. He loved extreme sports and had "a fearless attitude," his brother, Allias Fredericks, said. The only thing matching that attitude was the size of his heart, family and friends said.
