Two men from Grand Forks and a woman from Hallock, Minn., were among a group of four people arrested late Wednesday in a police drug bust outside a Wal-Mart in Watertown, S.D. Authorities say they seized a large amount of Oxycontin, drug paraphernalia and $1,400 in cash.
Thursday's arrests capped a year-long investigation to develop a case against the people involved, and law enforcement officers made undercover purchases from each of the 14 people targeted, according to Behrns.
When investigators approached the man in a parking lot outside a restaurant, he said he had nothing illegal. Investigators searched the car and found a carryout plate with chicken, rice and what looked like a foil-wrapped potato.
The lengthy investigation culminated in the arrests of a 67-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, who are the property residents; and a 47-year-old of Park Rapids man and a 22-year-old Osage, Minn., woman.
