An injured dog found Tuesday by the railroad tracks near Fisher, Minn., has returned from a veterinary hospital, but will require hip surgery in a few weeks, a Polk County Humane Society official said Thursday.

A woman died after she went into the Sheyenne River to save her dog Friday morning. After rescue crews pulled the woman’s body out of the river, the dog jumped back into the river and drowned, said Valley City Fire Chief Gary Retterath.
