Former Washington Post ombudsman Deborah Howell is being remembered as “a powerful force for good journalism” who was a loyal friend and an inspiring mentor to others in the industry. Howell, 68, died Friday when she was struck by a car in Blenheim, a town of 30,000 people on the northeast coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
