It’s not often that one gets the opportunity to see six art organizations perform in the same weekend, let alone under the same roof. But, half a dozen performing arts groups with more than 140 performers will come together at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Empire Arts Center for the third annual Christmas at the Empire holiday show.
Jane Pasley, 43, a popular dance instructor who taught hundreds of Grand Forks area children the techniques and joys of dance at the studio her mother founded, died today at a St. Cloud, Minn., hospital after a sudden illness, family members said.
West Fargo varsity and junior varsity team took first in pom and high kick, and the West Fargo Junior High School team also topped its division. This is the first year since 2008 the junior varsity team did not sweep their division, as Bismarck High won the JV jazz competition.

The Asham Stompers, a Manitoba-based Metis dance group that will perform Saturday and Sunday at an area French festival, are purveyors of the Red River Jig, a dance said to have been created by early-day Metis trying to attract fur traders to their community.
