Scheel stood at a podium in front of a backdrop adorned with Scheels logos and told a group of assembled members of the media a few feet from the store’s checkout lanes about the company’s plans to open a bigger, better store in Grand Forks.
The new Meadowbrook Home Furnishings and Gifts opened Sunday in Columbia Mall in the former Golf Center spot next to Macy’s and the food court. The existing Meadowbrook store, which also includes Urban Loft Designs, will remain open in the Grand Cities Mall.
A coffee shop that’s been in downtown Grand Forks for three years will close its doors today. Sarah Heitkamp, co-owner of the Porpoura Coffee House at 8 S. Third St., said it was a possibility that the owners discussed for months. The final decision happened recently, she said, after a neighboring clothing boutique stepped in with a proposal to expand their business.
