Fort Berthold reservation's $20 million health clinic opens 
The Elbowoods Memorial Health Center in New Town opened Oct. 17. A grand opening was held today with numerous tribal, state and federal officials on hand, including Gov. Jack Dalrymple. He says the clinic will expand health services in the region.

Make-A-Wish trip to Caribbean comes up soon for GF teenager 
The Grand Forks teenager was scheduled to take a similar trip in February, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. But that trip had to be canceled after Dvorak, who has battled leukemia since Oct. 2008, suffered a medical setback.

It appears Minnesotans will go to the polls for the 2010 primary election in August, a month earlier than usual. A new federal law gives military and other overseas voters 45 days to deal with mail-in general election ballots, but a September primary election leaves too little time to prepare for the general election. Several Minnesota lawmakers plan to move a bill through the 2010 Legislature soon after it convenes Feb. 4.

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department will continue to issue remaining doe licenses through the end of the archery season. There’s no limit to the number of licenses a hunter can receive. Nearly 90 percent of the deer licenses have been issued, but nearly 15,000 antlerless licenses remain for the 2009 season, in several units.
