Nearly half of Minnesota schools fail under No Child Left Behind
Nearly half of Minnesota schools didn’t make the grade under the federal No Child Left Behind law in 2011, the Minnesota Department of Education reported Friday. School districts in East Grand Forks, Fischer and Climax found themselves in this group. Other districts such as Crookston, Fosston and Red Lake Falls received passing grades on their report cards.

Risk of major flooding increases in southern and northern valley
The chance of major flooding this spring is increasing throughout much of the Red River Valley, according to the latest spring flood outlook issued today by the National Weather Service. In Fargo and some smaller communities in the southern Red River Valley, the risk of reaching major flood stage of 30 feet is as high as 98 percent.

Crookston firefighters responded Sunday night to a fire in an apartment building in Climax, Minn., according to a firefighter. The call came in just after 6 p.m. The fire was in an partment building, and no one was injured, a Polk County dispatcher said.
