A man found by a boater Sunday in Bagley's Lake Lemond died by drowning, the Clearwater County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. Chief Deputy Todd Spray said the death is not suspicious, but authorities are waiting to release the identity of the man, who is in his 20s, until family members can be notified.

One of Dan Risland’s closest friends said he was a good father, and believes he’s being unfairly criticized in the sailboat accident that critically injured one of his sons and killed two younger ones.
An 8-year-old boy who fell into a frigid lake near here remains in critical condition, and the family is “hopeful, but not optimistic” about the long-term prognosis. Sara Staley, the aunt of Isaiah Risland, 8, said it’s too early to tell what Isaiah’s outcome would be as doctors attempt to help the boy who stopped breathing due to hypothermia last Friday.

Three young children were sent to area hospitals after the sailboat they were in capsized Friday afternoon. Two of the children were taken by ambulance to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. The other child was taken to Bagley and then airlifted to a Fargo, N.D., hospital.
Dakota Wayne Christianson, 19, was charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class A felony. A court affidavit said Christianson met a 12-year-old girl at a dance at a downtown Grand Forks park Aug. 18. Christianson was 18 at the time and he knew the victim was 12, the affidavit said. The following day, Christianson and the girl had sex at her home.
Driver fell asleep, State Patrol says; spill contained A semi driver fell asleep at the wheel over early Friday morning in Clearwater County, causing a rollover that spilled 5,000 gallons of hot oil tar onto the median of U.S. Highway 2, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
As a result, MPR News at 91.3 and Classical MPR at 88.5 are operating at a very low power preventing the signal from being properly transmitted to radios, according to a news release from Minnesota Public Radio.
