FARGO – Preliminary autopsy findings are shedding no light on the death of a 27-year-old Fargo man whose body was found Monday along railroad tracks between Glyndon and Hawley, Minn., Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said today. Bergquist said a preliminary autopsy from the Ramsey County (Minn.) Medical Examiner’s Office lists the cause of death for Jared Nilles as undetermined, though he stressed officials are still seeking answers to that question. The full autopsy isn’t complete yet.

Two men in an SUV that was followed by police from Fargo into Clay County were seriously injured when the vehicle rolled into a steep, deep ditch this morning, Sheriff Bill Bergquist said. Bergquist identified the men as Tyler Rodriguez, 20, and his brother Daniel Rodriguez, 23, both of Moorhead.
A Moorhead man accused of holding a woman against her will for 24 hours while he beat, raped, stabbed and soaked her in lighter fluid pleaded guilty today to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Under the plea agreement, charges of criminal sexual conduct and false imprisonment against Michael Anthony Powell, 51, were dropped. Powell will remain in the Clay County Jail until his Nov. 21 sentencing. Guidelines call for him to serve 27 months in prison, said his attorney, Mara Rausch.
