Myra Foundation Awards Record Grants for 2011 
Forty-seven charitable, cultural, and educational groups in Grand Forks County were the 2011 recipients of the Myra Foundation grants. The Myra Foundation recently completed its 2011 funding cycle and awarded a record $314,412.00 to groups representing performing and visual arts, human
service organizations, education, and health care and wellness efforts. This represents the largest disbursement of funds in the Myra Foundation's 71 year history.

Two Join United Way Board of Directors 
The United Way of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Area has elected Chris Gjesfjeld (Professor, UND) and Mark Hall (Relationship Manager, Alerus Financial) to its Board of Directors. Gjesfjeld received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and joined the UND faculty in 2008 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work. Hall, a Grand Forks native, is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, earning a degree in Business Administration. Prior to joining Alerus Financial in 1991, Hall spent 16 years with First Bank System.

Kovar Named Chamber Ambassador of the Year 
Brenda Kovar, customer service and accounts payable representative at Choice Financial, was recently named The Chamber of Grand Forks and East Grand Forks 2011 Ambassador of the Year.
Kovar has been extremely active in the Chamber for more than 20 years,
including serving as past chair of the ambassador committee. In addition to the ambassador award this year, she was named Ambassador of the Year three other times and Ambassador of the Quarter six times.
