GF-EGF officials confident in flood-protection system 
The National Weather Service said Friday there’s a 65 percent of major flooding in the Greater Grand Forks area. “We know there will be flooding; we know there will be high water here,” said Kevin Dean, public information officer for the city of Grand Forks.
But for Grand Forks officials, and across the river in East Grand Forks, as well, there is a sense of confidence in the two communities’ flood protection system.

Drayton Bridge reopens 
The last bridge over the Red River closed because of flooding north of Grand Forks reopened Monday. The Drayton Bridge on N.D. Highway 66 east of Drayton, N.D., reopened about 11:30 a.m., Pembina County Emergency Manager Jill Pedersen said.

Louis Murray Bridge in EGF to close Friday 
The Louis Murray Bridge that connects north and south East Grand Forks will close at 10 a.m. Friday, officials said today. The bridge closes at 48.5 feet, and officials estimate that will not occur before Friday.

Sorlie Bridge closes 
The two cities closed the Sorlie Bridge on DeMers Avenue on Wednesday morning and closed the Point Bridge on Tuesday. The Kennedy also will close if the river level reaches 52.5 feet and appears to continue to rise, according to East Grand Forks City Administrator Scott Huizenga.
