More infomation about dead person likely today
Notifications of relatives of the person found dead along railroad tracks in the BNSF Railway yard in Grand Forks Saturday morning weren’t complete yet Sunday, a police sergeant said.
The facility was built in part to accommodate the needs of increased rail traffic from crude oil loading sites in western North Dakota's booming oil patch. Gov. Jack Dalrymple says dependable rail service also is critical to the state's farmers.
Train noise is coming to an end in Jamestown. City Administrator Jeff Fuchs tells KQDJ radio that BNSF Railway trains were to stop sounding their horns at three downtown crossings effective today. Horns will continue to be sounded at another crossing where the railroad has concerns about safety.
BNSF Railway CEO Matt Rose told the North Dakota congressional delegation this week that construction will begin in the spring on the $97.4 million project along the BNSF track. Amtrak passenger rail service will not resume through North Dakota for at least “several more days,” until repairs can be made to flooded railbed and tracks just west of Towner, according to a spokeswoman with BNSF Railway, which owns the track.
