Under current deadlines, North Dakota likely would not be able to have a planned insurance exchange certified as ready to go by Jan. 1, 2013. But Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm said it might be able to get conditional approval.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota executives are exploring the possibility of having a “standby” exchange template ready to go in the event the federal government grants the state an extension.
Bernie Dardis, who heads Indigo Signworks, was surprised by Thursday’s U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold the core of the sweeping health reform law. Now, as the executive responsible for providing health coverage for 120 employees, Dardis must figure out how to deal with the law, with many big provisions slated to take effect in 2014.
