The Big Sky Conference’s all-sports standings present the UND athletic department a humbling recap of the 2012-13 season. UND finished 11th of 11 members, highlighting the fact that the school’s non-revenue sports have some serious ground to make up.
The final two weeks of the Big Sky Conference saw nine of the 11 teams scrambling for one of the seven playoffs berths in the league’s postseason tournament. UND — a first-year member of the Sky — will carry the No. 3 seed into the tournament and will play No. 6 Southern Utah on Thursday night at 6:30.
UND’s first season in the Big Sky Conference has been one of hard knocks — emotionally and physically. UND is 5-11 in the Big Sky and 10-15 overall. The Green and White need to make a run if they’re to make the seven-team league postseason tournament. And time is running out.
OGDEN, Utah — There isn’t anything that will change the outcome of Saturday’s UND-Northern Colorado game, but Big Sky Conference commissioner Doug Fullerton on Monday acknowledged that officials failed to call a penalty near the end of the game, won 28-27 by the Bears.
