This will be the first time the city hosts The Ride Across Minnesota, held annually in different parts of the state. This year's ride goes from Bemidji to Alexandria with overnight stops in Walker, Park Rapids, Wadena and Fergus Falls.

An Alexandria woman was found dead in her home Thursday and this afternoon, authorities reported that the man they were looking for was found dead in Osakis. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, David Dewain Everett, 51, was found dead in a car located inside a storage unit on the west side of Osakis.
It began as a mystery. Last Friday afternoon, the Alexandria (Minn.) Echo Press received a call from a resident on South Union Lake with a weird tip: He came across what appeared to be a dead squid lying on the ground of the public access on South Union Lake, just a few feet from the water.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow was on patrol on Interstate 94 near Alexandria Thursday afternoon when the car in front of him left the freeway and plunged into Lake Latoka. Grabow jumped into the chilly water as the woman's car began to sink. Another trooper arrived and helped bring the woman to safety.
PERHAM, Minn. – An Alexandria, Minn., man died Thursday following a crash on Highway 10 west of Perham, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Roland J. Norling, 87, was eastbound on Highway 10 about 1 p.m. Thursday when his SUV drifted toward the shoulder of the road and he over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll over several times, the State Patrol said.
