Jordan Playle and three other Twin Cities-area residents — Lauren Peterson, 18, Prior Lake, Danielle Renninger, 18, Excelsior, and Megan Sample, 18, Rogers — were killed when the westbound car they were riding in lost control and went through the median into the eastbound lanes and were hit broadside by an oncoming vehicle, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Minnesota state trooper jumps into lake to rescue driver 
Sgt. Jesse Grabow was on patrol on Interstate 94 near Alexandria Thursday afternoon when the car in front of him left the freeway and plunged into Lake Latoka. Grabow jumped into the chilly water as the woman's car began to sink. Another trooper arrived and helped bring the woman to safety.

Alexandria, Minn., man, 87, dies in U.S. 10 rollover near Perham 
PERHAM, Minn. – An Alexandria, Minn., man died Thursday following a crash on Highway 10 west of Perham, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Roland J. Norling, 87, was eastbound on Highway 10 about 1 p.m. Thursday when his SUV drifted toward the shoulder of the road and he over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll over several times, the State Patrol said.
