A White Bear Lake, Minn., man has been sentenced to nearly 19 years in prison for killing his wife in 1999. The Ramsey County attorney’s office said Friday that Ramsey County District Judge Salvador Rosas on Friday departed upward from state guidelines when sentencing Gordon Weaver, 53.

Twenty-two-year-old Ryan Stanley Hurd is accused of taking 19-year-old Kathryn Rose Anderson from her Eagan apartment, stabbing her 109 times and leaving her in highway ditch in Steele County. Her body was found near Owatonna Dec. 3. Hurd was later found in his hometown of Tulsa, Okla., and arrested.
Ten people have died of swine flu-related illness in Minnesota. The state health department says the victims include another child from Steele County and a Martin County woman in her early 60s, and both also had underlying health conditions.
