Reported crime in Grand Forks hits 15-year low 
The number of reported crimes in Grand Forks hit a 15-year low in 2011, but property crimes and drug offenses were on the rise. Grand Forks had 9,193 reported crimes last year, the fewest since the flood year of 1997, according to the police department’s annual report released Monday.

Man arrested after burglaries reported in Grand Forks early Saturday 
Two burglaries were reported early Saturday in Grand Forks and a suspect was arrested, according to a news release from the Grand Forks Police Department. Twenty-one-year-old Marc F. Lampert was arrested early this morning for burglary and criminal trespass.

A review of the past five years shows that the number of use-of-force reports filed by officers peaked in 2006, bottomed out in 2008 and rose in 2009 and 2010, almost re-attaining the 2006 level.
