A husband and wife from Pine City have been killed in a head-on crash in eastern Minnesota near the Wisconsin border. Minnesota State Patrol Capt. Matt Langer said a 44-year-old-man who had been drinking tried to pass a minivan on Highway 70 in Rock Creek in a no-passing zone about 5:45 p.m. Friday.

Suicide of man accused in BWCA Wilderness fire hits hard 
Even some who lost property, business to fire felt charges against regular wilderness visitor were unfair
The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness was a place Posniak loved, his attorney said, and he was devastated when authorities accused him of starting a May 2007 wildfire that burned nearly 120 square miles of pristine forest in Minnesota and Canada. Posniak died Tuesday after shooting himself in his Washington, D.C., home, attorney Mark Larsen said. "I can't help but draw a nexus between the two events - the charge on one hand and the suicide on the other," Larsen said Wednesday. "There definitely was a connection there."
