The New Year means it is New Year’s resolution time, so those vowing to lose weight will be flocking to Grand Forks’ new fitness center to sign up. Historically, the first of the year finds a surge in health club memberships.
The beginning of another year is supposed to be an optimistic time, but optimism is hard to muster this New Year. The news of the last month has been unbearable sad and unbelievably frustrating. Nor do the portents bode well.
A contractual disagreement between a satellite provider and Hoak Media, which operates the local NBC and CBS affiliates here, could leave thousands of DirecTV subscribers in the region without two major networks in the New Year.
